HBO, Comedy Central, Netflix, Adult Swim, AMC. Often recreated in a fast-paced, very tongue-in-cheek manner, the stories were based on actual events.
#SPIKE TV 1000 WAYS TO DIE TV#
Spike TV may no longer exist (having become the Paramount Network at the beginning of 2018), but there are other channels that this show could be a good fit on! 1,000 Ways to Die, an anthology television series, which aired on Spike/Spike TV from to Jshowcased shocking reenactments of deaths of individuals who often met the grim reaper in very unorthodox or outlandish ways. The book is written with the same pun and double entendre style as the show. The show is meant to be a little bit corny, but that is part of the amusement. With a lot of the stupid acts going on in the world and some of the more stressful times, I think we ALL could use a bit of a laugh and I think now would be a great time to bring 1000 ways to Die back on the air! This book is based on Spike TV's show called, '1,000 Ways To Die.' In each episode, a few different scenarios of allegedly 'true' stories of unusual deaths.
From being crushed by a falling bathtub while spying on tenants to getting caught in a woodchipper to even historical deaths like that of Harry Houdini and Jack Daniels, this show tackled them all with gore, comedy, and even professionals and guests providing not just commentary, but cgi displays on HOW each death happened, (The late Charlie Murphy even giving a very funny commentary on 70s culture during a segment involving Lawn Darts)
This show, a docu-fiction-comedy with the narration of the amazing Ron Perlman, detailed stories of some of the stupidest and most bizarre ways people could (and nearly in ALL cases actually HAVE) met the Grim Reaper. In July of 2012, the show "1000 Ways to Die" ceased airing due to a strike at Spike TV put on by the staff and actors. Ok, so while I know this may not be as big an issue as ending world hunger or poverty or anything, it's still something I think would be pretty nice to have in these times. My twelve year old son and I were watching Spike TV the other day (his choice because I couldnt watch another episode of Sponge Bob) and 1000 Ways to Die came on.
